Allison Janae Hamilton: MOOD

My introduction to Hamilton's art occurred when I visited the Studio Museum in Harlem on the final day at their old location. I was captivated by her installation, Foresta, which filled a small nook with elegant taxidermy, tambourines, and eerie stick figures engaged in dialogue with a video piece that transported me home. As a history enthusiast from the South, I felt a deep connection to many of the landscapes depicted in Hamilton's work, which resonated with me on a profound level.
